Warm Shelter, Log nad Škofjo Loko, 2002

Object: 25 bamboo sticks, ea. 180 cm, thin metal foil

Video: sound, duration: 1min 43sec

This simple portable shelter consists of 24 bamboo sticks bound together in a simple way designed by the architect Buckminster Fuller. The construction is upgraded with thin double-sided metallic foil; the two sides have opposite effects. If the gold side is turned outward, it keeps warmth inside the shelter. If the silver side is on the outside, heat is reflected off the shelter.
I erected the golden shelter near a hilltop church in the idyllic Slovenian countryside.
